Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals predominantly with straightening people’s teeth with fixed braces. As an orthodontic therapist, I treat mainly under 18 NHS cases, under the prescription of a specialist orthodontist.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

This job is very rewarding, you have a sense of accomplishment and pride in seeing our young patients thrilled with their new smiles. I feel we can really make a difference to a person’s confidence and you feel as if you are making a positive difference in their lives.

How did you get into your role?

I worked as an orthodontic nurse for many years before the course was available.

What kind of person would your job suit?

A caring, compassionate, friendly person with good manual dexterity, excellent communication skills, and can work well as part of a team. Able to follow instructions and take pride in their work, attention to detail is very important.
